Research on the origin and evolution of Solar System using secondary ion mass spectrometry

Researcher Noriyuki KawasakiAssistant Professor

Meteorites are known to come mainly from asteroids. In particular, chondrite meteorites from undifferentiated asteroids are composed of primitive materials formed in the early Solar System. The chondrite meteorites provide key clues to understanding the origin and evolution of the Solar System. We study chemical and isotopic compositions of primitive materials in chondrite meteorites and extraterrestrial return samples using secondary ion mass spectrometry to decipher the origin and evolution of the Solar System.
