Solving the Mystery of Diversity and Universality of Solid Planets and Satellites

Researcher KAMATA ShunichiAssociate Professor

What are the internal structures of solid planets and satellites, and how have they evolved? What physics and chemistry is the key to the visible diversity of individual planets, and what universality lies behind it? By combining the analysis of various data obtained from planetary exploration with geophysics (mainly numerical calculations), we are trying to solve these mysteries. I am involved in several planetary exploration projects (KAGUYA, Hayabusa2, and JUICE).
