Photoreceptor protein microbial rhodopsins

Researcher Takashi TSUKAMOTOAssistant Professor

Almost all living organisms on earth use sunlight to survive. Vision in animals and photosynthesis in plants are familiar examples. Photoreceptor proteins are responsible for such biological responses. We are trying to understand the molecular mechanisms of a kind of photoreceptor proteins in microbes, called microbial rhodopsins.
