Utilizing the diverse physical properties of materials from the perspective of materials science, research is being conducted on the development of advanced functional materials for high-efficiency and low-environmental-impact energy conversion, including photoenergy and thermoelectric energy conversion.
Particular focus is placed on the creation of photofunctional device materials with photoelectric conversion, photocatalytic, and photoreactive properties, as well as on the development of novel oxide-based thermoelectric materials that exhibit unique electron and heat transport behaviors. The aim is to explore new functionalities derived from nanostructures.
