Outline

Polymer materials are abundant around us, as represented by plastics, fibers, and rubbers, and are enriching the modern society. On the other hand, the polymer materials cause the global environmental issues, such as carbon dioxide emission by incineration and marine plastic pollution. My expertise is the precise synthesis of polymers, and with this background, we have conducted basic research, such as the development of environmentally benign synthesis methods for polymers and synthetic studies of polymers with special molecular shapes. Recently, we are working on the development of high-performance polymer materials made from plant-based raw materials and physical property enhancement of marine-degradable polymers. We hope such studies can find clues to solve the environmental issues related to polymer materials.
