Outline

Living organisms take on rounded shapes, but when viewed at the nano-level, they are made up of countless strings (macromolecules). These strings form higher-order structures and even complexes to express a series of sophisticated functions. My research interests cover many soft materials, including polymer solutions, colloids, gels, and biological tissues. In particular, I am engaged in elucidating the underlying mechanisms between macroscopic physical properties and the nanostructures of soft materials by combining structural analysis using light, X-ray, and neutron scattering and measurement techniques such as rheology and spectroscopy.
