Outline

The overarching research theme of our group focuses on the synthesis and utilization of functional organic molecules. Cutting-edge technology in modern organic synthesis and computational chemistry are utilized to develop novel synthetic methodologies for the construction of new molecular structures that display interesting functions. Furthermore, concepts and practices of data science are implemented to guide our efforts in method development, catalyst design and the understanding of molecular functions.

Current research topics in our lab include transition metal catalysis and photo-responsive molecules. One on-going project features the functionalization of indigo, an abundant dye widely used in clothing such as blue jeans. These photo-responsive motifs show huge potential in applications such as photoswitches and catalysis.
