Outline

The existence and transformation of carbon are key questions closely linked to the evolution of Earth and life, as well as to climate change. My research aims to elucidate the carbon cycle from Earth’s surface to its deep interior by using high-pressure and high-temperature experiments. I investigate the stability and reactivity of carbon materials under the subducting slab, including their interactions with surrounding minerals.

In addition, I have recently begun conducting laboratory experiments to explore the chemical evolution of phospholipids in terrestrial hydrothermal environments, with the aim of understanding the conditions that may have led to the origin of life. I am also engaged in research examining whether such chemical evolution could occur on icy satellites, such as those orbiting Jupiter and Saturn.
