Outline
Current integrated circuit technology seems to face a problem that is the limit of device size and power consumption per transistor, and the development of innovative devices is desired. As a way to break through the problem, researchers are trying to process and communicate digital information by photonics instead of electronics. Optical interconnect technology has already been studied by many researchers. Whereas, photonic information processing technology is recently attracting particular attention because the photonic circuits based on Si photonics is compatible with electronic devices, which leads the solution of the problem.
So far, I have proposed a compact photonic processing device based on optical resonators. I will not only consider its integration into optical processors but also explore its potential applications in next-generation optical communications and wireless communications technologies (including 6G).
