Research Outline
Ever since declining population became a problem in many regions during the period of high economic growth, various regional development efforts have been explored. However, when we talk about “regional development”, various things come to mind depending on the person, such as attracting companies, producing regional goodies and events, recruiting migrators, local studies/regional studies, building connections between residents, etc. It’s a vague matter.
My research examines the process of transformation of people and organizations engaged in community development from the perspective of community education, based on the case studies of endogenous development. Specifically, I have been exploring from a learning perspective how local residents actively try to create and change their communities, and what and how they learn in the process. Currently, we are considering how we can turn community development organizations, which are dominated by older men, into places where diverse people, including young people and women, can participate.
